Which airport to choose to enter Cameroon?

For the purpose of a tourist stay, a business trip or a transit, whatever the reason and duration of your trip, for all people heading to Cameroon, it is now necessary to apply for an electronic visa to enter the country. This is good news and makes the visa application process much simpler and more convenient.

First of all, it should be noted that this e-visa is only offered to air passengers. It should subsequently open at land and sea border posts.

Arrival by air

There are two possible entry points into Cameroon with an electronic visa. These two points are international airports, so the only means of transport to Cameroon is currently by air from a foreign country. Please note that the airline with which you choose to travel has no impact on being able to enter Cameroon through one airport rather than another. You can decide to travel with an airline from Cameroon, Africa or elsewhere.

There are several airports across the country, including 4 international airports. However, it is currently possible to choose to enter and exit Cameroon through only these two airports:

  • Douala International Airport: Douala is the largest city in Cameroon and home to the country's busiest airport. If you're planning to visit Cameroon, this is probably where you'll land. With an electronic visa, you can easily enter the country through this airport. This airport is well connected to major cities in Africa and Europe, making it an excellent entry point.
  • Yaoundé Nsimalen International Airport: If you are planning to visit Cameroon's capital, Yaoundé, you can enter the country through Yaoundé Nsimalen International Airport. With an e-visa, you can quickly clear customs and immigration and start exploring the city.

Arrival by sea or land

Cameroon shares borders with several countries, including Nigeria, Chad, the Central African Republic, Congo and Equatorial Guinea. The electronic visa could be quickly extended to land border posts to allow all travelers to enter the territory through these neighboring countries.

It is important to note that the procedure at land borders may still take longer and require additional documents.

In addition, Cameroon is open to the Atlantic for approximately 400 kilometers. It has four ports:

  • the seaport of Kribi
  • the seaport of Limbe
  • the river port of Garoua
  • the port of Douala, which is the largest port in Central Africa

If you plan to enter Cameroon by sea, you will still have to wait to be able to enter the territory from one of these ports with an electronic visa.

Even if the country currently only has two entry points For all travelers, the electronic visa system makes the application process accessible to more people than when they had to go to an embassy. It is a process that is not complicated to follow and quick.
